Final Team Standings (by time)
Gun Time: These are times which are based on the initial start of the race, at 00:00 time. However, the race is started in waves, with the 7th place runner starting first, then the 6th place runner 25 sec later, as determined by the coach. Each successive place starts 25 sec after the previous one. Gun times for all but the 7th place runners, who initially start at 00:00 time, are therefore not their true running time by 25 sec, 50 sec, 75 sec, etc. Places for this race are in the order in which they cross the finish line, regardless of when they started. Thus, some later runners may catch the slower runners who started before them.
Net Time: These are times which represent the actual time that the runner ran the race, based on the 25 sec offset of when they started. In other words, this is their time from when they started to when they finished. As a result, these times will be equal to or faster than their Gun Time, depending upon which start wave they started in. It is calculated as Gun Time - Start Wave Time. Each actual start wave time is posted below.
Wave: This represents which start wave the runner started in. Wave 1 was the 7th best runner on the team. Wave 2 was the 6th best runner on the team, etc., to Wave 7 being the best runner on the team (as determined by the coach). Based on Gun Time, Net Time and Wave, statistically one could figure out which runner moved up the furthest in the race, both on their team and overall in the race (the math of which we leave to you the viewer).
Each start wave in succession actually started at 0.0, 23.5, 51.6, 1:13.3, 1:36.5, 2:03.0, 2:23.9. These times are provided for coaches to adjust their mile splits if necessary.
